Designed with a self-determined learning (heutagogy) approach, this course encourages learners to actively explore, question, and construct their own understanding of research rather than simply memorising methods. The course introduces foundational concepts of research, including how knowledge is formed, common errors in inquiry, research philosophy, and ethical responsibilities in conducting research. Students will explore both qualitative and quantitative research approaches, including data collection techniques, sampling strategies, measurement design, and data analysis methods. Practical components such as developing research topics, conducting literature reviews, constructing research instruments, analysing findings, and presenting research reports are integrated throughout the course. Through guided activities, reflective tasks, authentic case examples, and independent inquiry, learners will be encouraged to make methodological decisions, justify research choices, and solve real-world research problems relevant to business and management. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, ethical integrity, communication, collaboration, and lifelong learning skills necessary for academic and professional research environments.
